Merry Christmas people. Hope the holidays are good for you, i know they will be for me. Here's a couple last minute songs for you to Christmas-it-up. Enjoy
Yes, you read that right, Chingy. The man that hasn't shown up anywhere since i was a freshman in highschool, which is a long time ago. Maybe this is a start of something, because this joint is surprisingly good. Have a listen
Pretty sick song. I love Wale, but in the last little while he's pushed some songs (that will remain nameless), that i have been quite disappointed with. With this joint, my Wale respect is back up where it should be. Joc is not bad either.
This is a dope tape. I spotted one of this kid's songs floating around, and i liked it. I started to fish around and came across this mixtape he released recently, and it's pretty legit. Wicked hooks, solid rapping, all around pretty good. Give it a listen. As always, a couple of my tops of the tape
Can't say i didn't warn you. I told you these kids were dope. I posted a song a week or so back and i said that i would be on the lookout for new stuff, and here it is. A new video and a couple new songs. Wicked stuff here. Seriously, be on the lookout, these high school kids are gonna be everywhere soon.
Sick stuff. This one has been on repeat for a couple days now. Another remix/mashup track for you, but i can guarantee its a hot one. A real feel good track. Enjoy
Alright, i got a couple of tracks here for you. A couple weeks back now, i posted a mashup that Seth Evans did using an Owl City hook, and you went pretty crazy for it. Found these two ones floating around and they are equally as good. Enjoy
I could have used a picture of Austin! White, but i saw this on his myspace page and i thought it was too cool to pass up. Anyway, really cool song here. Actually goes on the track with John Mayer, and put together a really mellow laid back relaxing song. Defiantly grab this one for the library.
Lets be honest here, its been kind of slow lately. I will take most of the blame for that one. Finals are over, im back home, so i'm not around the computer 24/7 anymore. BUT, the web is pretty slow for new shit too. Christmas is coming so people are defiantly slowing down. Here's a little track for you, kind of haunting to be honest with you, but still very well put together.
Stumbled onto this joint right here, solid track. From a guy i haven't heard anything about, but i like this sound. Chris Harris has a real cool voice, and a real tight flow.
It's Friday, so you know what that means... were granted another freestyle from my man e-dubble. Honestly this track is so well put together, i feel like it could be an actual song. Another dope drop. Enjoy
Don't know much about this guy, Man-U-iLL, but i like what i hear. A friend sent over tossed me this track, and it's pretty good. Real smooth hook, and real good lyricism. Enjoy.
This tape is unreal. G-Riot absolutely wrecks every song on this mixtape, and let me tell you, there's a lot of them to wreck. I have had this joint on repeat since i grabbed it (HUGE shoutout to GMAD). I couldn't even decided on a few songs to give you a taste, so i picked more than a few. Defiantly grab this one for the collection.
A good song for you to end the night with, put on the ipod, and listen all day tomorrow. I started to look out for this guy after i heard Long Time, and waiting for something to surface, and here it is. A really well put together song. Listen, relax, and enjoy.
A really cool song. No, it's not about twitter, so don't ask. It's about the tweeter speakers. Wicked beat on this joint though. It's literally been in my head all day, and i don't mind one bit.
Hailing from the west coast of Canada (Vancouver), SonReal, who i haven't heard much of released a mixtape recently. Pretty solid, and really diverse. Does a a fair bit of remix's of songs, but actually does a good job. Give it a listen. Here's a couple tracks, as always.
It's been a long busy day, or at least for me it has. Lack of power can make a man go crazy, so maybe thats why i'm spoiling everyone tonight with so many hot tracks. This one is from some boys from PA. Solid track, real good hook, and a nice mellow song to end your night.
This is ridiculous, these kids are from Philly, and they are actually just seniors in high school. If this is the kind of track from high school seniors, i can't wait to hear the tracks they push in the future. Take a listen, i promise you wont be disappointed.
A couple days ago I posted a song by this guy. A few days later a friend of mine saw it and sent me this older track by Truth, and let me tell you. Taxicab is pretty tight. Enjoy.
ROUGH. Damn, Meek absolutely destroys this. I liked the original, and love this freestyle. Eminem and Nikki are thinking somewhere, "damn, he killed our beat"...
Alright people, i have been sittin on this one for a while now, thinking should i post, should i save it for a slow day,or is it even worth posting. The answers are officially, yes,no and hell yes, it's about time. Video just got released for this track so enjoy.
OK. This one has been a long time in the making. PJ is absolutely dope. He raps, he sings, he plays guitar, he produces, he collaborate, pretty much does everything. I downloaded one song of his months and moths back when i saw it online somewhere, and honestly, i have been listening to everyone of his songs religiously ever since. Here are some of my favorite songs of his. Two are complete remix off his Back 2 School mixtape, and one is an original off The Slo Life. Have fun
Pretty solid tape here. This kid's got pretty sweet flow. A sophomore at University of Arizona, and he's already opened for guys like Sam Adams. This kid is going places. Check out his tape "In The Moment", along with a couple of my favorite songs.
Alright, I've been watching these guys for a while now. Not in the creepy stalker way, but the "your last song was dope" kind of way. A few months back i picked up one of their songs "Party.edu", where they sampled one of my favorite ratatat songs. I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for another song to surface from these boys, and it was so worth the wait. Sick original song (other than the drake sample), which is really refreshing. Enjoy, because i really did.
Sick track here. Real big potential. Wicked lyricism from KMBentley, and dope hook as well. I haven't heard of this guy at all, so shoutout to GMAD for posting this one.
I stumbled onto this track a little while ago. I've seen a few songs by Rook here and there, but never been really been pulled in. I saw this one and i said to myself, how can someone go over J's track. I listened, and i was impressed. Rook is pretty dope on this track.
I woke up this morning and i just didn't want to get up, but it's that time of year, and i had a final at 9 in the morning. Wasn't feeling going at all, but i knew i had to. I needed a jam to get me up and get pumped, and this song just happened to be up on my ipod. Let me tell you, i was ready to fight after this track. The hook is dope, the rhymes are tight. Not the usual thing i post up on Leaks, but i figured it was appropriate this time. Hit it up.
Solid track here. I'm not a huge fan of the hook, but it's starting to grow on me the more i listen. Grynch is another up and comer out of Seattle. It's seems to be Seattle is pumpin them out lately. Enjoy.
Heavy song for you to end the night. Honor, by Laws, a kid who comes from down south in the sunny state. Wicked flow and skilled lyricism on this track, so just sit back relax, and vibe.
My man Vizzy. I pushed XV's mixtape a while ago now, so im sure everyone knows well who he is. Sick new video for The Flying V. Tight beat and tight flow as always. Check it out.
Alright, It's Friday, and i apologize. It's been a long day of cramming for finals so i really haven't been able to get you as many songs as i would have liked to. I was hooked up with this track yesterday and i have been listening to it on repeat all day. It's by a guy named Black Mic, out of Detroit. The song is from his album, Somthin 2 Ride 2, one of the four projects Hes working on now. I'm really looking forward to what this guy is doin in the future. Solid mellow track, with a real tough Caribbean feel. check it out.
Ok, so a friend of mine showed me this track by a guy named Kokayi. I really didn't know what to think, so i gave er a listen. This song is sick. I dont even know how to classify the song. Just give it a listen, very worth it. I actualy went out and got this whole album becasue of this one song, so you should listen.
DOPE! Thats all i have to say. The White Panda destroy this song. stereo love, by edward maya and vika jigulina, has secretly been on my ipod ever since it came out, i love the song. Someone finally pulled the amazing acordian beat from it. These guys threw it together with Waka Flaka's hood anthem, No Hands, and the product is dope. check it out.
Alright, it's been a long day, and i apologize for not being up on in today, but like i said, been a hell of a long day. I'm gonna start you off with some Matt Clarke. To be honest, i wasn't a huge fan of him for the longest time. I would see drops here and there, and whenever i went to listen to them, they never really pulled me in. I decided to give Teenage Wasteland a go, and let me tell you. Matt Clarke, you are officially back on my radar. I feel like he's matured with this track. Samples "The Who" too, so can't really go wrong with that.
Dope track here. A little while ago i posted a song by Zed's Dead ft Omar Linx, and after enjoying that one, i stumbled upon this gem. A solid beat, a haunting hook, and rough rapping, just overall a really well put together song.
Not sure that i have heard of this guy, Hendersin. BUT judging by just this song, i'm looking forward to hearing more from him. I have heard possibly dropping an album in January. I will let his facebook page do some explaining: "He has been working diligently on different projects, and has performed with a number of established Hip Hop artists such as Mr. Lif, Immortal Technique, Chali 2na, Raekwon, Wiz Khalifa, and more. Never falling victim to being categorized, Hendersin proves to be the breath of fresh air that the industry needs."
Give a listen, enjoy.
Now, before you knock this and pass it over, just check it out for a second. This kid goes to USC and has been playing the violin all his life. Lately hes done a ton of covers of hiphop songs on youtube, and they have been actually pretty dope. When doing the cover he literally just puts headphones on just goes pretty much freestyle with the beat and tune hes hearing. Pretty dope stuff if you ask me. So check out one of my favorites that i have heard.
I'm just going to assume you know who my man J.Cole is, seeing that hes blown up right now. I'll be honest, i didnt pay any attention to this guy before Friday Night Lights. I heard a couple songs around the web, and i wasnt overly impressed, but hes gotten a much better sound as he matured. Here's a new drop from him called Leave Me Alone. Sick track.
Truth Himself. Honestly i had not heard of this kid at all, but with this song (plus some on his myspace page), i am really interested in him. He's got a a real different sound. It's defiantly a good hip hop sound, but hes got a "pop" feel about him as well. Heres the track
In case you haven't heard of The Dean's List, your really missing out. A group of guys out of Boston, and they kill it. These guys have a really cool sound, a little bit of college party sound to them, but they also have legitimate lyrics to their songs, which is a great mix. Heres a couple of my favs from their Undeclared mixtape:
It's been a slow day all around. Nothing too great to be found around, plus i've been busy as hell with finals n shit, so forgive me. BUT i wont leave you out to dry, so heres a song that i have listened to more than a few times today while studying. Faded by Julius Myth. solid song, wicked beat and flow, just a real good song to relax to. Enjoy.
I will admit, i'm a bit behind with this track, but it was a busy weekend, so cut me some slack. Here we have my favorite part of Friday's, E-Dubble's freestyles. I posted one of my favorites of past freestyle Fridays a week or so back, and i think this one might be added to that list. E-Dub kills it on this billy joel sample. Check it out. And if you like his stuff, definatly check him out on facebook, or twitter or whatever your into.
Another guy from NY, with a tight mixtape. He uses samples for cascada, micheal jackson, DHT, Haddaway and Wu-Tang. So if you cant tell from that little line up there, hes got a pretty wide variety of songs on here. I'm gonna be on the look out for this guy in the future. Heres a couple of my favs, then you can cop the whole tape at the bottom. Shout out toThe Kollection
In case your behind the times, this is OnCue. This kid is dope. Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, this kids got a solid new sound. It's a tight hiphop vibe with some clear mixins of some rock and indie backgrounds, for just an overall wicked sound. He just dropped a FREE new mixtape called Leftovers, and before that he had his tape, Cuey Sings The Blues. Heres a couple of my favs.
Wicked mix here. Uses Owl City's Fireflies song as the main hook, but throws in Magic, Sierra Leone, Just Sayin’, Hello SeatleOn The Wing. Seth Evans turns it really into a whole other song. Check it out for sure if you into mashups. Shout out to The Kollection for this one.
This is a bit of an older track from a guy i really know nothing about, DJ KPAC, but this song is sick. A really mellow B.I.G. sample with some Massive Attack (otherwise known as the theme song from House). Here it is.
Alright, it feels like a really mellow day, and it looks like its a video day too. Heres a couple from Blue Scholars, Coffee and Snow. Both solid mellow tracks, witch wicked videos. Don't wanna go too crazy with explanations here, so ill just drop them on you. Pt. 1 i got the link for, but if you want Pt. 2, you can check out their site and buy it. It'll mean alot to the guys.
Alright people, good morning, hope the week was all good for you, know it was for me. The weekend is now here, so lets get down to it. This is a track by a group named Kids These Days out of Chi city. They are a group which consists of 3 people on horns, a rapper, a blue/rock trio and a female vocalist. They are releasing an EP in December i believe, so i'm looking forward to checking that out for sure. Pretty cool stuff, a solid video, and a really relaxing jam to start the weekend off. Enjoy.
Wow. Just Wow... this song is incredible. I downloaded the mixtape While You Were Sleeping by Trey Palms a couple weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to really listening to it until now. As i sit here studying for finals, this song comes on, Hip Hop; You broke My Heart, and i was officially blown away with this guy. I have said it already butthis song in incredible. Hope you enjoy, because i know i did.
